Merry Christmas 2011

STAT meant stat, and I had my CAT scan yesterday.  They were not done with me until after 5:00 pm, so I don't expect to hear from a doctor until Monday after the holiday.  I'd like to think this pain is just a part of a long healing process - - - but I don't really think that's true.

But, the good news is I am going to have the quiet Christmas I dreamed of a couple of weeks ago.  I'm not exactly healthy, but managed my Christmas shopping - thanks to Amazon Prime.  Everybody gets something from me, and the gifts are wrapped too!  While I can't stand up long enough to cook an elaborate meal, we can get a Honeybaked ham and side dishes.  Mostly, I will be able to see my children and my husband and have a nice time with them.  We'll open gifts, than play board games, listen to Christmas music and maybe drink hot cider and eat Christmas cookies.  What could be better?!

People have also been very good to me this year, and I have more thanks to give out than I can possibly manage.

May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas - STAT!

  4. dear ann, i am so happy for you, getting to have the quiet christmas you dreamed of. AND that you got that CAT scan! it seems you've found a peaceful and contented place deep inside of yourself, to let you be released from internal strife and struggle. good for you, ann. my husband, hugh, has had cancer, multiple myeloma, for the past 2 years. i stumbled onto your blog several months ago, never dreaming that i would be diagnosed with stage iv metastatic breast cancer just one week ago. because of you and your incredible spirit and determination, and your ability to laugh uproariously right in that fucking cancer's face, my most predominant thoughts, as the pall of shock lessens, are those of deep gratitude. i have my role model and inspiration already in place, and ann, i know with all my heart, i'm going to beat this cancer to a bloody pulp. i encourage you to savor every moment of happiness and joy this christmas day, and take it all in, soak it all up, let it seep into every pore of your body, mind, and soul. i'm not a big "god" person, but i believe in earth angels, and i believe that you are one of them. you and your blog have been an inspiration to me, and i hope what i am saying to you tonight makes you realize just how much it has meant to meet you, as i step onto the road of a journey that none of us ever wanted to have to travel. HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!! XO, karen

  9. Ann, your blog is so honest and helpful. I started reading abut two weeks ago and I feel like I know you! I was diagnosed in October 2011 so your posts are so meaningful to me right now. I keep turning to my husband and telling him the next saga I read about--you are a household name! (you are the " 'Breast Cancer? But Doctor I Hate Pink' lady"!)

After much advice from other women facing breast cancer, I started a blog too, and it has been so cathartic. May I link to your blog and give you praise for helping us new kids?

  10. Dear Ann,

I have been following you on your blog and BC.org. I wish you hadn't left.

I hope you had the most wonderful Christmas with your family. I have been thinking of you and praying for a quick recovery. When one of us is suffering, the rest of us do. I pray we can all be healed from this dreadful disease.

Here's to hoping you are on the mend very soon. Happy New Year!
